Common Sense Cattle

An All Day Workshop with Steve Campbell

What if building a more profitable, productive cattle operation started with looking at your land and stock a little differently?

Join us for an all-day workshop with Steve Campbell of Tailor-Made Cattle, a cattleman, lifelong student of agriculture, and practical “cattle coach” who helps producers connect the dots between soil health, forage, animal nutrition, cow efficiency, genetics, and beef quality.

Steve brings decades of experience working with cattle and a common-sense approach grounded in observation, studying the fundamentals, and years of putting ideas to the test on the ranch.

A Common-Sense Approach to Cattle

Steve has been around cattle in one capacity or another since the age of ten. In 1999, while recovering from a ranching injury, he experienced what he describes as an “epiphany” that changed the direction of his work.

Since then, Steve has devoted himself to learning about the interconnected health of soil, plants, animals, and people. His studies have taken him through old agricultural texts, conversations with leading ranchers worldwide, and decades of conferences and educational opportunities.

He has taken those principles back to his own ranch, testing what works in the real world and using what he has learned to help other producers improve their cattle and their operations.

Steve believes there is no one-size-fits-all formula for raising cattle profitably. Every ranch has different resources, environments, goals, and challenges, which is why his approach is truly “Tailor-Made”.

What Will You Learn?

This workshop will explore the practical connections between the cow, the land, and the finished product.

Topics will include:

  • Building cattle that fit your environment and resources

  • Improving cow efficiency and reducing feed requirements

  • Pasture health, and producing higher-quality forage

  • Nutrition and mineral management

  • Stock selection and identifying the right kind of cattle for your operation

  • Calving and developing a productive, functional cow herd

  • Understanding what makes cattle thrive rather than simply survive

  • Producing premium beef by starting with the right cow and the right environment

  • Looking at cattle through the lens of evolution, efficiency, and profitability

  • Practical ways to evaluate your own herd and identify opportunities for improvement

Steve challenges producers to look beyond conventional assumptions and ask better questions:

“Are your cows truly suited to your environment?”

“Are you selecting cattle that can thrive on what your ranch naturally produces?”

“Could your herd become more efficient without sacrificing productivity?”

“Can you recognize the traits that contribute to high-quality beef while the animal is still on the hoof?”

More Than a Cattle Seminar

Think of Steve as a cattle coach.

Much like a business coach helps an owner identify opportunities, solve problems, and reach higher levels of performance, Steve works with cattle producers to look at their entire system, not just individual pieces.

The goal isn't to give you another list of things you “should” be doing, or to sell another magic product.

The goal is to help you understand why your cattle and your land are performing the way they are, and then identify practical changes that can move your operation in a better direction.

Whether you're focused on improving herd efficiency, forage utilization, cattle selection, beef quality, or the overall health of your ranching system, this workshop will give you plenty to think about and practical ideas you can take home.
